Library

This page is a work in progress! Thank you for your patience as we clean it up! In the meantime, if you are looking for a specific resource or information, please reach out to our librarian via email.

Welcome to the TVHS Library!

Our small but mighty library is here to support our students! Students, check out our resources on this page or visit the library during our hours for one-on-one help. Keep an eye on your grade-level Google Classroom and the library's Instagram page for the most up-to-date information about library programs and upcoming events!

The Collection

Our library houses about 4000 books. Browse the shelves, ask for a recommendation, or search the catalog to help you decide what to read next!

Fiction is sorted by genre, and then organized alphabetically by author's last name within each genre. We are in the midst of reorganizing the nonfiction to a more user-friendly system, so please bear with us and ask for help if you need it!

Our library also has graphic novels, poetry, books in Spanish, board games, and more great resources available for students and staff!

The Librarian

Paige Riffle is the TVHS Librarian. The 25-26 school year is her 10th year at TVHS. She is a certified teacher-librarian with an endorsement in gifted education. She is also a PBS Certified Media Literacy Educator and a member of the Southern Arizona Gifted Network. As the school librarian, she collaborates with teachers to personalize student learning, help students develop critical thinking skills, and connect students with good books for research and personal enjoyment. In her free time (what free time?), Mrs. Riffle enjoys reading (duh), the occasional short-lived hobby, and chasing after her two young children.

Guiding Principles of the TVUSD Libraries

Literature Appreciation

Students can learn to value and enjoy reading through a variety of books. This develops an expanded worldview, multicultural understanding, critical thinking skills, and a scientific mindset.

Information Literacy

Students can find, interpret, analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and communicate information. Information literate students can be successful and capable learners in pursuit of new knowledge.

Lifelong Learning

Students can develop critical thinking skills and the desire to learn. Lifelong learners are self-motivated, open-minded and engaged. They grow personally and academically all their life.

Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift.
