Make a Difference Day

On Saturday, October 25, the TVUSD school community came together for Make a Difference Day, joining forces to complete a variety of improvement projects across the district.

At Tanque Verde High School volunteers worked on projects including pressure washing hallways and lighting and moving gravel to the areas around the Science Building. Painting rooms and refreshing the courtyard with new plants were the projects completed by the volunteers at Emily Gray Junior High.

Tanque Verde Elementary’s west playground was converted to sand to enhance play space for students while other volunteer teams re-coated the outdoor basketball courts. Thanks to the creative efforts of the volunteers, Agua Caliente Elementary now has a newly painted sidewalk sensory path. Other volunteers handled the machinery to till and level the playground areas. Garden projects at both Tanque Verde and Agua Caliente schools also received care and attention, ensuring vibrant outdoor learning spaces for students.

Leading the effort were Greg Miller, Director of Operations, and the site Principals, Amy Cislak, Beth Egan, Chris Rietz, Emma Batty, and Garden Teacher, Deb Goepfridch, who coordinated the projects, materials and day-of logistics.

Special thanks to our cadre of volunteers  Kendra Thompson-Dyck and family, the Ricks Family, Bryan Goodman, and the Todd Johnson Family, along with Sandy and Mark McFarland, the LDS Rincon Stake, LDS Tanque Verde Ward, and the Tanque Verde FFA. Additional thanks to Noel Reed, Eliza Ricks, Heather Lotti, Amy Ashcraft, Jeanie and Karen Kartchner, Danica Vimmerstedt, and Robert Rothrock for dedicating their time and efforts. This day of service would not have been possible without the incredible generosity and hard work of our volunteers.

We are grateful for our community who support our schools and partner with us to create and maintain welcoming, well-cared-for spaces for students, staff and families to enjoy with pride.
