The Pride of Tanque Verde delivered an inspiring performance this Saturday at the University of Arizona’s annual Band Day, a cherished highlight of the marching season. Performing in Arizona Stadium offered students the exciting opportunity not only to take the field in a collegiate venue, but also to watch the renowned Pride of Arizona—and cheer on many Tanque Verde alumni performing at the next level.
Despite a quick turnaround from their last competition and a demanding week of rehearsals, the Pride continued their upward trajectory, earning 4th place in the 2A division with a score of 74.138. The band made especially impressive gains in the music category, improving nearly a full point in just one week—an outstanding accomplishment in such a short time frame.
The color guard once again dominated, earning the 2A auxiliary caption for their exceptional performance. Their consistent excellence has made them a standout unit this season. Congratulations to the guard members and to Coach Lily Shaw for her remarkable leadership and choreography.
“We are extremely proud that the kids have put in the work to not only remain competitive in a higher division this year, but more importantly continue to put on a great show that fellow bands, audiences, and judges enjoy,” staff shared. In a touching moment after the performance, students surprised staff with signed posters and bouquets—a heartfelt gesture that reflects the strong bond and positive culture within the program. “We have a wonderful group of kids, and it is a privilege to work with them,” staff added.
With one week remaining before championships, the Pride enters a final push to polish their show and finish the season strong. The band will compete at Campo Verde High School this Saturday, November 8, performing at 3:14 p.m.
Thank you to all families, alumni, and community members for your ongoing support of the Pride of Tanque Verde. We look forward to seeing you at championships—let’s cheer them on to a strong season finish!
